Coast is a major visual arts project that started in 2003. Over four years, a series of newly commissioned permanent and temporary artworks will be installed along and around the Essex Coast. These ambitious sculptures, installations, performances and other events will explore, document and celebrate this often overlooked stretch of coastline.

Coast aims to raise the cultural and aesthetic profile of Essex’s coastal area, while encouraging better access and appreciation of its landscape, people, history and ecology.

Coast Digital – new digital artwork celebrating Mersea Island

Coast Commissions – new art project inspired by the Essex Coast as a whole; three new artworks created for particular sites in Maldon, Rochford and Tendring districts

Coast Schools – series of artworks integrated into new architecture of three schools in Clacton-on-Sea

Coast Promotion – website, exhibitions at firstsite, touring exhibition, publication and promotional materials.
