June 2005 Bettina Furnée Bettina Furnée was recently selected to create a work for Harwich and Tendring District. As such Furnée has just begun to explore initial ideas. Furnée's work generally incorporates text and she envisages that her Coast Commission will too. Trained as a letter cutter, the artist has worked with poets and community groups in the past to find text that captures ideas associated with a site or situation. Her project "If ever You're in the Area" will be exhibited at firstsite, Colchester and various offsite venues this summer. It can be accessed via her website www.ifever.org.uk Another coastal project, this examines our fear of invasion, using military defences for inspiration and location.
